Meet our Team

Dr. Tia Hem, founder of AAWC, graduated with honors and received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from Samra University of Oriental medicine in California. Her externship included work at the Minority Aids Project (MAP) in which she treated HIV+ and full blown AIDS patients. She also worked as an apprentice at Yu Zhang Acupuncture Inc., studying Chinese Herbs, and Medical Qi Gong with her master Dr. Yu Zhang. Dr. Zhang is a Medical Doctor and TCM Psychiatrist in China and has been practicing acupuncture in the United States for the past 30 years.
Through her education and work experience, Tia has become well versed with energy work and uses Medical Qi Gong with all her patients. In addition to being proficient and a well versed practitioner, she is also a Kundalini Yoga instructor. For over 10 years, Tia has been teaching yoga and meditation in Southern California. Her other specialties includes internal medicine, treating those struggling with addiction, and adeptness in Western and Eastern pharmacopeia and herbalism.

Dr. Hetal Patel is a Pennsylvania native, born and raised in Philadelphia. She received her Bachelors of Science degree at Temple University. Her undergraduate studies opened her eyes to the biomechanics and the function of the human body, which led her to pursue a holistic approach to human dysfunction. Dr. Patel moved to Los Angeles where she attended Southern California University of Health Sciences and obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Her enthusiasm to help people out of pain and achieve optimum health is evident through her hands on approach and gentle adjustment style. Dr. Patel believes in providing her patients with myofascial release, rehab programming, and exercise guidance alongside chiropractic adjustments. When Dr. Patel is not treating others, she is traveling the world with her husband, hiking, and trying new foods.

Boonsita Tangsopon, was inspired to be in medicine from caring for her convalescent grandparents. From that point, she knew she wanted to help others. Boonsita enrolled herself in Physical therapy school and received her bachelors degree in Thailand. Boonsita worked in Bangkok hospital Physical therapy department. As an experienced Physical Therapist, Boonsita is very knowledgeable in orthopedic and pain management. She is well versed in a wide variety of soft tissue modalites. Boonsita decided to move to the US to study English and continued her education in Chinese Medicine in South Baylo University. Boonsita obtained her Master degree in Chinese Medicine in 2014 and continued to go onto the Doctorate program in Dongguk University. Besides working on finishing her doctorate, she also enjoys playing badminton and going on road trips.
